Sustainable Urban Revitalization of Melody Food Park, Islamabad

The Melody Food Park Islamabad, situated in the bustling G-6 Markaz, serves as a cornerstone of the capital’s culinary and cultural identity. Named after the legendary Melody Cinema, this site is a high-traffic destination that required a modern architectural intervention.

The Katana Design Team was appointed by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to lead a comprehensive 55,000 sq. ft. renovation, balancing the needs of a modern food street design with the strict environmental preservation standards required for urban planning in Islamabad.

Extendable Work Cabin Design

A signature innovation within this project is the Expandable Work Cabin, a masterpiece of modular office architecture. Recognizing the need for flexible administrative spaces, the team designed a cabin that functions initially as a two-person workspace but can be extended to accommodate four people comfortably. This expandable structure is an ideal solution for high-density urban environments, offering a scalable footprint without permanent construction.

Precision was the foundation of this commercial landscape design. The Katana Design Team conducted a detailed spatial audit of the entire 55,000 sq. ft. area, documenting accurate dimensions of every tree and existing structure. This resulted in a full-proof design blueprint for the Authority, ensuring that every modular element was placed with mathematical accuracy. By integrating high-end aesthetics with the existing layout, the team enhanced the park’s capacity and flow while maintaining the ecological integrity of the G-6 Melody Market area.

Through this project, Katana Design Team and the CDA have set a new benchmark for sustainable urban development in Pakistan. By utilizing biophilic design, our expert architects proved that modernization can actively promote nature conservation. Every element was engineered to protect the existing greenery, ensuring an eco-friendly urban landscape that reduces the heat island effect in G-6 Markaz.

To ensure project viability, Katana developed a full-proof financial plan and strategic budget, handed over to CDA management for seamless execution. This combination of expert architectural consultancy and fiscal precision makes the Melody Food Park a premier model for green infrastructure and sustainable public space design in Islamabad.
